Home Economics

The National Domestic Workers Alliance released a groundbreaking study in 2012, Home Economics. The study revealed that though domestic workers care for the most vulnerable elderly, young, and infirmed, they are rarely compensated with a livable wage and are often subject to abuse. The study was reported by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fox News Latino, The Nation, MSNBC, and continues to beg the question why a sector of workers - women, mothers, sisters, daughters - remain unprotected by basic labor laws.
