Introduction to Story-based Strategy: Virtual Training 6/04/2026

Join us this spring for one of our four Introduction to Story-based Strategy Trainings. In this interactive, hands-on 5-hour session, participants will learn and practice the fundamentals of Story-based Strategy (SBS). If you’re an organizer, activist, or artist looking to create lasting change, now is your opportunity to join our introductory training. In this training, you will gain tools to dismantle harmful narratives, using radical imagination to create transformative alternatives.
Participants of this training will:

  • Explore and unpack Story-based Strategy.

  • Learn how to analyze narratives and their relationship to power.

  • Get access to simple and effective storytelling and framing methods.

  • Connect and build relationships with other change-makers.

Accessibility:

Due to access and community care, our Introduction to SBS Trainings are being held virtually. Automated captioning will be available in the main room. Depending on interest and needs, a training may be conducted bilingually, in Spanish and English, with simultaneous interpretation available. We will not be providing English/US American Sign Language this time. Will offer breaks during the training. Please help us improve our accessibility to these spaces - let us know what we can do better!

Tuition

CSS public trainings are available on a sliding scale in our commitment to making our gatherings as accessible as possible. Fees are set based on the amount of revenue we need to generate to cover our training costs. Please use the guide below to choose a tuition level that best aligns with your access to resources at the moment. Note that the tuition cost is per person (not per organization). No one will be turned away for lack of funds!

Tuition Options:

Level 1 - Redistribution: $400

If your organization is paying for your participation and has an annual budget of $1M or more.

If you’re an individual paying for your participation and some of the following may apply to you: your salary is over $100K; you have inherited or expect to inherit wealth; you do not need to work in order to meet your basic needs; you do not have any debt.

Level 2 - Sustainability: $300

If your organization is paying for your participation and has an annual budget between $500,000 - $1M.

If you’re an individual paying for your own participation and some of the following may apply to you: you consistently cover your basic needs + some extras; your salary is over $75K; you have some debt that you’re able to make regular payments on; you have higher education degree(s); you have family with assets such as a home.

Level 3 - Access: $200

If your organization is paying for your participation and meets the following criteria: A) Has an annual budget below $500,000 AND B) Is majority owned or governed by people who are: of color, immigrants, disabled, LGBTQIA2+, working class, and/or poor.

If you’re an individual paying for your own participation and some of the following may apply to you: you consistently cover your basic needs + occasional extras; your salary is between $50-75K; you have some debt that you’re able to make regular payments on: you have higher education degree(s); you have family with assets such as a home or retirement fund.

Level 4 - Solidarity: $0 - $100 (partial or full scholarship)

If you’re an individual paying for your own participation and some of the following may apply to you: you struggle to consistently meet basic living expenses; your salary is below $50K or you are unemployed; your income supports people other than yourself; you do not have savings.

A reminder that these are guidelines and are not rigid categories. We recognize that some individuals and groups might not fit exactly into one of these. We invite you to select your training tuition based on your own assessment of your resource access.
